Jonathan Ayala Dies while James Grant Arrested in Dallas Car Accident
DALLAS, TX (September 12, 2024) — A 14-year-old middle school student, Jonathan Ayala, died in a car accident on Friday, September 6.
According to the Dallas Police, the accident took place at South Marsalis Avenue and East Ledbetter Drive around 7:55 a.m.
During the investigation, the Dallas Police Department found that the driver of the vehicle and the passenger, 47-year-old James Grant, got into an argument.
Then Grant started struggling with the driver and assaulted them. After that, Grant reached across the driver and caused the vehicle to go off the road. It resulted in the vehicle hitting Ayala who was walking in the grass.
Paramedics transported Ayala to a local hospital, where he died. The Dallas Independent School District confirmed he was a Boude Storey Middle School student.
Grant stole something from the driver and then fled on foot, police said. The driver remained at the scene and called the police.
