12-Year-Old Yelina Tarango Struck and Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Belmont Street at Carey Avenue [North Las Vegas, NV]

12-Year-Old Yelina Tarango Identified in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in North Las Vegas

 
NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (June 28, 2023) – North Las Vegas police identified 12-year-old Yelina Tarango who died in a multi-vehicle crash on Belmont Street on June 20.
 
According to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, the collision happened at East Carey Avenue. Based on a report, a 2005 Cadillac Escalade and a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro were both driving recklessly northbound on Belmont prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a work pickup truck and a Chevrolet Traverse were stopped at the intersection of East Carey. As the work pickup attempted to cross the intersection, the Cadillac struck it. This caused the Cadillac to hit the Traverse. Subsequently, the Cadillac continued northbound on Belmont and struck Tarango. Its driver then fled the scene on foot.
 
Officers arrested the driver of the Camaro on traffic-related charges. The driver of the Traverse suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the work pickup had minor injuries.
