12-Year-Old Aiden Begay Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Wood Drive [Phoenix, AZ]

PHOENIX, AZ (February 23, 2023) – Phoenix police identified 12-year-old Aiden Begay as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident on Wood Drive on February 17.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at 19th Avenue around 6:50 PM. Based on a report, Begay was crossing Wood Drive at the time of the crash.
 
As he was mid-block, a vehicle came and struck Begay.
 
As a result, Begay suffered severe injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported him to the hospital, where he later died.
 
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers. Police said they do not consider impairment or speed as factors in the crash.
 
As of now, an investigation is underway.
