Fatal Scooter Accident with Truck on Irvington Road in Tucson; Child Killed

 
TUCSON, AZ (January 10, 2024) – The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that an 11-year-old died in a scooter accident on Irvington Road on January 3.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Camino de Oeste. Based on a report, the girl was riding a scooter near the intersection before the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, a truck hit her.
 
The victim suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Authorities did not release her name, pending kin notification. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
 
Authorities said neither speed nor impairment appeared to be factors.
 
The truck’s driver is cooperating with the investigation, officials said.
