Abelino Diaz, Octaviano Giron Identified in Fatal Phoenix Car Crash

PHOENIX, AZ (February 27, 2023) – Officers identified two of the three victims who died in a car crash on 19th Avenue on February 23.

Officials identified 18-year-old Abelino Diaz and 38-year-old Octaviano Giron. The third victim has yet to be identified.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened just north of Highway 101 around 11:20 PM.

Based on a report, three vehicles collided in the lanes. The Phoenix Police Department said two cars initially crashed head-on in the lanes. Then, the vehicles hit a third car.

As a result, Diaz and Giron died in the accident. Diaz was driving one of the cars and Giron was riding as a passenger.

The driver of another vehicle also died after their car caught fire. The identity of the third person was not immediately available.

The driver and passenger in the third vehicle were not hurt.

As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. No other information is known at this time.
