Veronica Barajas, Elida Villalobos, Jerika Pichardo Dies in Carrizo Springs Car Crash

 
CARRIZO SPRINGS, TX (February 23, 2023) – Officers identified 85-year-old Elida Villalobos, the mother of McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos, as one of the victims who died in a crash on Highway 83 on February 17.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 7:01 PM. Based on a report, Villalobos’ sister – 54-year-old Veronica Villalobos Barajas – was driving a Toyota Rav at the time of the crash.

Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle collided with a 2014 Dodge Avenger.

As a result, Barajas, Villalobos, 31-year-old Jerika Pichardo – the driver of the Dodge Avenger – died in the crash.

As of now, the cause of the crash remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
