Zeferino Alvarado Dies After High-Speed Crash on Highway 152 and Delta Road

 
LOS BANOS, CA (November 16, 2022) — Zeferino Alvarado died after a high-speed crash on Pacheco Boulevard (Highway 152) and Delta Road early Saturday morning, November 12.

The fatal collision involved a 2021 Ford Mustang and a 2020 Autocar garbage truck, according to the California Highway Patrol which dispatched officers just before 7:00 a.m.

Authorities said the Mustang, driven by 19-year-old Alvarado, traveled westbound at over 120 miles per hour on Pacheco Boulevard approaching the intersection with Delta Road.

The garbage truck, operated by 42-year-old Rodriguez Sanchez, headed south on Delta Road at a stop sign. Then, the speeding Mustang slammed into its side.

The force of the impact caused the Mustang to burst into flames.

As a result, Alvarado died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the garbage truck ended up overturned.

CHP stated that conditions of the road at that time had been foggy with visibility between 500 to 700 feet. This, along with the unsafe speed of Alvarado, made it difficult for Sanchez to conduct an evasive maneuver.

The incident is still under investigation.
