Box Truck Involved in Fatal Bicycle Accident on Highway 1 at Cypress Avenue in Moss Beach

 
MOSS BEACH,CA (September 30, 2022) – Police confirmed the death of a man following a bicycle accident on Highway 1 on September 28.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Cypress Avenue around 11:30 AM.
 
Based on a report, a box truck struck was traveling southbound on the highway prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, it drifted into the northbound lane and then struck the bicyclist who was traveling on the shoulder.
 
As a result, the cyclist, a man believed to be in his 40s, suffered grave injuries in the crash. The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene. His identity was not yet released, pending kin notification.
 
Paramedics transported the truck to a hospital for minor injuries. Later on, police arrested him under suspicion of involuntary manslaughter with gross negligence.
 
At this point, an investigation is still ongoing.
