One Killed in Lamar Bus Accident on Highway 287 near Milepost 68

 
LAMAR, CO (December 26, 2024) — One person died following a car accident on Highway 287 on Thursday, December 5.
 
According to Colorado State Patrol, the incident occurred on Highway 287/385 near milepost 68 shortly after 4:00 a.m.
 
CSP said a Greyhound bus traveled on northbound Highway 287/385. Then a passenger suddenly jumped out of the moving bus. Then, an oncoming semi in the southbound lanes fatally struck the person who jumped.
 
State troopers and Prowers County deputies arrived at the scene. They initially closed down a few miles of highway just south of Lamar. A little before 6:00 a.m., they extended the closure down to Springfield.
 
Officials reopened all the closed lanes at around 9:56 a.m.
