VAN HORN, TX (September 2, 2024) — An 80-year-old Los Angeles woman, Eva Mae Chopane, died in a rollover accident on Wednesday, August 21.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened shortly before 4:00 p.m. on 10 Freeway at mile marker 181, around 35 miles east of Van Horn.
 
DPS said Chopane drove east on the 10 Freeway. Then she veered off the road and went onto the dirt shoulder before the vehicle spun out. After that, the vehicle rolled over on its roof.
 
Emergency responders pronounced Chopane dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics transported three other people to Culberson Hospital where they received treatment for minor injuries.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
