Ruben Rodriguez, Juliana Plata, and Luz Martinez Dead after Semi-Truck Accident in Wheat Ridge

 
WHEAT RIDGE, CO (August 29, 2024) — Newlywed couple Ruben Rodriguez and Juliana Rodriguez Plata died in an accident on Thursday, August 15.
 
According to the Wheat Ridge Police Department, the accident occurred at about 8:21 a.m. on the 10 Freeway between Ward Road and 32nd Avenue.
 
WSP said a semi-truck carrying large, blue plastic piping moved east along the 70 Freeway when it overturned. As the accident happened on the road, the piping came off the truck. After that, it spilled onto the eastbound and westbound lanes of the freeway. It caused at least three other vehicles to crash.
 
Three people inside one of those vehicles died in the incident. Family members later identified them as 33-year-old Ruben Rodriguez, 37-year-old Juliana Rodriguez Plata, and Juliana’s mother, Luz Melba Martinez.
 
Meanwhile, Juliana’s father, Carlos Joaquin Plata, and the couple’s 1-year-old son, Daniel, were also in the car. Both were hurt in the crash.
 
The driver of the semi-truck also suffered injuries.
 
Local news reports said Ruben and Juliana had tied the knot last August 10 and they are bound to their honeymoon when the crash happened. Their family created a GoFundMe to help with the funeral expenses.
