PUEBLO, CO (August 12, 2024) — A 65-year-old man identified as Richard Ornelas died in a motorcycle accident on Thursday, July 25.
 
According to the Pueblo Police Department, the accident took place on the southbound 25 Freeway near the Eagleridge Boulevard exit shortly before 1:30 p.m.
 
Pueblo Police said the crash involved a motorcycle and truck. Paramedics transported the motorcyclist, later identified as Ornelas, to the hospital. He later died from sustained injuries.
 
Officers said that impairment does not appear as a factor in the accident.
 
Authorities closed the southbound 25 Freeway for several hours in the area. They reopened all the closed lanes at about 4:30 p.m.
 
The investigation of the cause of the crash is still underway.
