Brett Jones Identified in Fatal Crash on Highway 87 in Hartley County

 
HARTLEY COUNTY, TX (January 16, 2024) – Officials identified 23-year-old Brett Jones who died in a crash on Highway 87 on January 4.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened around 6:15 PM. Based on a report, Jones was a passenger in a 2014 Nissan Altima driven by 22-year-old Anna Agosto. The vehicle was traveling northeast on the highway before the crash.
 
At the same time, a 2017 Ford F-250 was traveling southwest. Police said the vehicle’s speed was unsafe for snowy roadway conditions. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicles collided in the lanes.
 
As a result, Jones suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
Agosto was taken to an area hospital near Dalhart with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The crash remains under investigation.
