Sergeant Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix Identified in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (December 7, 2023) – Officers identified Sergeant Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix who died in a hit-and-run crash on 15 Freeway on November 30.
According to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 3:23 AM. Based on a report, the two highway patrol troopers appeared to be asleep during the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, a white Chevy struck the troopers and fled the scene.
As a result, Abbate and Felix suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. A procession of law enforcement officers led one trooper from the scene to the Clark County Coroner’s office. A second procession traveled from UMC.
The Clark County District Attorney’s office later found and arrested the driver of the Chevy, 46-year-old Jemarcus Williams. They took the suspect into custody on two counts of DUI resulting in death, two counts of reckless driving resulting in death, and two counts of duty to stop at the scene of an accident.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
