Rolando Rubio Killed, Woman Injured in Phoenix Crash on 33rd Avenue

PHOENIX, AZ (September 5, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 35-year-old Rolando Osuna Rubio who died in a fiery crash on 33rd Avenue on August 18.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Bethany Home Road just before 9:00 PM. Based on a report, Rubio was heading westbound on Bethany Home Road when he crossed the center lane and into oncoming traffic.

His vehicle collided with a vehicle heading eastbound on the road. Subsequently, police said Rubio’s vehicle caught fire in the incident, trapping him inside.

As a result, Rubio suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.

The other driver was able to get out of her vehicle and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire department arrived and extinguished the burning car.

As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
