According to Washington State Patrol, the accident took place on Highway 28 near Road S Northwest just after 8:30 p.m. WSP troopers said Sweet drove a 2001 Chevrolet Geo eastbound on Highway 28 approaching Road S Northwest. Then he crossed the center line. After that, he struck a westbound 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche in the bumper. Sweet’s car came to a stop on the westbound shoulder. At the same time, the truck that his vehicle hit landed upside down on the eastbound shoulder. Paramedics transported Sweet to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries. He now faces charges for causing the crash. The truck driver identified as 18-year-old Carlos Monroy-Villanueva, of Brewster, was not hurt. However, officers arrested him for DUI after they confirmed he was under the influence when the crash happened. Both people involved in the crash wore seatbelts.
