Yin Yan Ejected, Killed in Mendota Car Crash

 
MENDOTA, CA (January 6, 2023) – 22-year-old Yin Yan of Davis died after she was ejected from a vehicle in an accident on San Benito Avenue on December 29.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. near Panoche Road.

Based on a report, a 20-year-old Davis resident was driving southbound in a Mercedes GCL 300 when the accident happened. For unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle and swerved off the road.

As a result, Yan – who was an international student at University of California from China – was thrown out of the vehicle as she was not wearing a seatbelt.

Responders confirmed that Yan was pronounced dead at the scene.

One passenger suffered major injuries. However, other passengers and the driver sustained unknown injuries.

At this point, alcohol and drugs were ruled out. Other factors that led to the crash are still under investigation.
