Woman Dies After Chico Wrong-Way Crash on State Route 99
CHICO, CA (February 25, 2025) – A woman died following a wrong-way crash on State Route 99 on Sunday night, February 16.
The fatal incident occurred near Garden Brook Drive at around 8:22 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officials stated that a Lexus sedan being driven by a 32-year-old Dos Palos man had figured in a collision with a Kia Forte, operated by a 52-year-old Smartsville woman.
Reports indicated that one of the vehicles had been traveling southbound along the northbound lanes of SR-99.
The accident left the female driver of the Kia dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Lexus survived but suffered unspecified injuries. Respondents transported him to Enloe Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities are suspecting that the influence of alcohol may have appeared as a factor in the incident.
The investigation is still ongoing, and no other details are available.
