Fatal Vehicle and Pedestrian Accident on Washington Avenue in Orting

 
ORTING, WA (October 17, 2022) – Police confirmed that a woman died in a pedestrian accident in the 300 block of Washington Avenue on October 13.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near a shopping center at about 5:55 AM.
 
Based on a report, City of Orting police responded to the scene following a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
 
Upon arrival, police and medical personnel found the woman in her 60s dead at the scene. Officials did not yet release the name of the victim to the public.
 
Officials said the speed limit in that area is 25 mph outside of school hours and the driver who struck the woman remained there and called 911.
 
Police did not believe impairment was a factor in the collision. As of now, they are trying to determine if the lights in the crosswalk were activated when the victim crossed.
