Woman Fatally Injured Hit-and-Run on 20 Freeway near Matlock Road

 
ARLINGTON, TX (July 2, 2024) — A 21-year-old woman died in a hit-and-run on 20 Freeway on Sunday, June 23.
 
According to the Arlington Police officers, the accident happened on the westbound 20 Freeway near Matlock Road at about 5:00 a.m.
 
Witnesses said they saw a pickup truck driving erratically. Then the vehicle eventually drove on the shoulder of the highway shortly before the accident happened.
 
Investigators believe the woman experienced car trouble. Then she pulled over onto the shoulder and stood outside her vehicle. That is when the pickup struck her and her vehicle.
 
Police said the truck went over the grassy median onto the 20 Freeway frontage road. They discovered the truck abandoned in a shopping center parking lot near the scene of the crash.
 
Authorities also discovered the woman lying unconscious on the road. They pronounced her dead on the scene. They have not released her identity pending notification of loved ones.
 
As of writing, the had been no arrests made. Investigators are still working to determine the identity of the truck driver.
