Josue Jurado-Garza Killed, Brandon Ruiz Hospitalized after Semi-Truck Crash on Highway 349 near Mile Marker 372

 
UPTON COUNTY, TX (July 2, 2024) — A 25-year-old Mission man, Josue Casimoro Jurado-Garza, died in a semi-truck crash on Saturday, June 15.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at about 2:40 p.m. on Highway 349, near mile marker 372.
 
Investigators said Jurado-Garza drove a Kia K5 southbound on Highway 349 in the left lane. At the same time, 25-year-old Brandon Renteria Ruiz, of Midland drove a semi-truck northbound on Highway 359.
 
Then Ruiz veered onto the east shoulder of the roadway. After that, he overcorrected back left and crossed into the southbound lanes of the highway. It resulted in the semi crashing with the Kia.
 
Emergency responders arrived and pronounced Jurado-Garza dead at the scene
 
Meanwhile, Ruiz suffered minor injuries in the crash.
 
Officials continue to investigate the incident.
