ROCK ISLAND, WA (January 22, 2025) — Karl Sundquist and Araceli Olaldemedina sustained injuries in an accident on Saturday, January 18.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred around 5:10 p.m. on Highway 28 in Douglas County.
 
WSP reported that 53-year-old Karl W. Sundquist, of Moses Lake, drove westbound on Highway 28. Then his vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes. His car collided head-on with a Ford Explorer.
 
After that, he struck a Dodge Ram before resting in a ditch on the westbound shoulder. A fourth vehicle, a Ford Expedition, attempted to avoid Sundquist’s car but was still damaged in the process.
 
Both Sundquist and Araceli Olaldemedina, a 50-year-old passenger from Quincy in the Ford Explorer, sustained injuries. Paramedics brought them both to Central Washington Hospital. Emergency responders also transported other individuals involved in the crash to the hospital as a precaution.
 
Authorities confirmed that Sundquist was under the influence. The charges are pending as the investigation continues.
