Vernon Barnes Dies in Motorcycle Accident on Highway 83 [Taylor County, TX]

Vernon Barnes Identified in Fatal Motorcycle and Semi-Truck Crash in Taylor County

 
TAYLOR COUNTY, TX (June 12, 2023) – Officials identified 66-year-old Vernon Russell Barnes of Bradshaw who died in a motorcycle on Highway 83 on June 1.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at FM 1086. Based on a report, Barnes was driving his motorcycle north on the highway prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, 67-year-old Jerry Laverne Carter of Myra was driving a semi-truck pulling a trailer on the same road. Subsequently, Barnes began to slow down to make a left turn onto FM 1086.
 
At that point, Carter steered across the center stripe but Barnes turned and hit the semi and the towed trailer on its right side.
 
As a result, Barnes sustained severe injuries in the incident. Emergency crews transported him to Hendrick Medical Center – North, where he later died.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
