Valerie Bergmann, Bethany Blankenship, and Five Others Injured in Three-Vehicle Collision on 5 Freeway near 179th Street

 
RIDGEFIELD, WA (January 30, 2024) — Valerie Bergmann and seven others sustained injuries in a three-car crash on Sunday, January 21.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred at about 9:51 p.m. on 5 Freeway near 179th Street.
 
Police said 33-year-old Yupada Fontung, of Portland, drove a Chevrolet Impala on 5 Freeway. Then it drifted into the right shoulder. After that, it collided with a Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped on the right shoulder. The collision then caused the Silverado to crash into a Ford F-250.
 
Paramedics transported the driver of the Silverado, 20-year-old Valerie L. Bergmann to a medical center. They also rushed her passengers, 40-year-old Bethany J. Blankenship and 40-year-old Jeremy Poston, to the hospital.
 
The driver of the Ford, 47-year-old Jason P. Lattig, and his passengers, 21-year-old Brandon J. McGraw and 33-year-old Josh Thielbar, also suffered injuries. Paramedics also transported them to hospitals.
 
EMS responders also brought Fontung to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for injuries.
 
WSP said all occupants of the Silverado and the Ford are Vancouver residents.
 
Investigators referred to charges of DUI and vehicular assault.
