Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on 5 Freeway in Clark County

 
CLARK COUNTY, WA (October 26, 2023) – Officers confirmed that two people died in a wrong-way crash on 5 Freeway on October 15.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened just north of Vancouver at approximately 1:45 AM. Based on a report, one car was traveling the wrong way, going southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway.
 
At the same time, another car was northbound just north of milepost 8. Subsequently, the cars collided head-on. Both then came to a stop fully blocking the northbound lanes.
 
As a result, both drivers suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. The one who was driving the wrong way was a 63-year-old man from Portland. The person hit was a 37-year-old man from Woodland.
 
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol were involved.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
