Single Vehicle Double-Fatal Crash on 10 Freeway in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (January 17, 2023) – Officers confirmed that two people died in a single-car crash on west 10 Freeway on January 7.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at milepost 270 between Wilmot Road and Kolb Road at about 6:54 AM.
 
Based on a report, the victims were in a vehicle traveling on the freeway prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, the driver fell asleep and the vehicle traveled into the median.
 
The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to reenter the roadway and roll over, ejecting three people into the roadway.
 
As a result, DPS said one person died at the scene and another died later at a hospital. They did not yet release the victims’ names, pending the notification of next kin.
 
Three other people were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
 
Impairment was not a factor. As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
