AUSTIN, TX (April 9, 2024) – The Austin Police Department confirmed that three people died in an accident on North FM 973 on March 30.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at Old San Antonio Road around 4:30 PM. Based on a report, two vehicles collided near the Tesla Gigafactory.
 
Police did not release the details that led to the crash. They stated that seven people were involved in it.
 
As a result, three people suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the victims’ names, pending notification of their families.
 
Medics transported four other patients to the hospital for treatment of various injuries. Crews said that one of the patients was airlifted by a STAR Flight helicopter to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries. They took the other three to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
