PHOENIX, AZ (January 6, 2025) — Three people sustained injuries in a fiery accident on 40th Avenue on Monday, December 23.
 
According to the Phoenix police, the crash occurred near 40th Avenue and Grand Avenue at about 4:45 p.m.
 
When officers arrived at the scene, they determined that five vehicles were part of the collision and one of the vehicles was engulfed in flames.
 
Phoenix police said paramedics brought three adults to the hospital for treatment of their injuries, one of whom had life-threatening injuries.
 
Footage from the scene displayed a silver SUV with extensive front-end damage. It also showed heavy police presence in the area as crews shut down both directions of Grand Avenue.
 
The Arizona Department of Transportation diverted traffic westbound traffic at 39th Avenue. Meanwhile, they also diverted eastbound traffic at 43rd Avenue.
 
Officers closed the roadway overnight during the crash investigation. They reopened it early Tuesday morning.
