Thirteen Children Injured after Mattawa School Bus Crash on Road O

 
MATTAWA, WA (January 25, 2024) — About 13 children and one man suffered injuries in a school bus crash on Road O on Monday, January 22.
 
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened on Road O near Road 27.
 
Based on the initial information, the bus drove south on Road O. Then a pickup truck that traveled west on Road 27 failed to yield. After that, the truck t-boned the bus. The impact caused the bus to roll on its side and slide down the street.
 
GCSO confirmed that 11-13 students in grades three to eight suffered injuries, none of which were life-threatening. The driver of the pickup truck also had serious injuries. Paramedics transported all of them to hospitals in the Tri-cities.
 
According to GCSO, fog could have contributed as a factor in this accident. However, they could not confirm at this time.
 
This crash is still under investigation.
