Thi Nguyen and Victor Mendez Identified in Fatal Car Crash in Scurry County

 
SCURRY COUNTY, TX (February 22, 2024) – Officials identified 30-year-old Thi Yen Ngoc Nguyen of Woodway and 45-year-old Victor Manuel Rodriguez Mendez of Post who died in a crash on Highway 84 on February 12.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened 6.02 miles north of Snyder at approximately 8:40 PM. Based on a report, Nguyen was driving an SUV, traveling north in the southbound lane of the highway.
 
At the same time, Mendez was driving a car traveling south on the highway. Due to unknown reasons, Nguyen’s SUV collided head-on with Mendez’s car at milepost 396.
 
As a result, Mendez suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Crews took Nguyen to UMC Lubbock, where the victim later died.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
