Susan Wolber and Jay Rhoten Dead, Randall Settergren Hurt after Civil Air Patrol Plane Crash near Storm Mountain
DRAKE, CO (December 10, 2024) — Two people identified as Susan Wolber and Jay Rhoten died in a plane crash on Saturday, November 23.
According to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened near Storm Mountain around noon Saturday.
Governor Jared Polis and Major General Laura Clellan verified that the incident was of a Colorado Civil Air Patrol plane. They said the plane was out of the Thompson Valley Composite Squadron. In addition, they said it was conducting a routine training mission for an aerial photographer when the crash occurred.
The governor’s office later identified the two deceased in the crash as Pilot Susan Wolber and aerial photographer Jay Rhoten.
They also identified the injured as Randall Settergren. The Colorado Army National Guard airlifted Settergren to a medical facility.
As of writing, officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
