Shirley Freeman and Karen Mulder Killed, James Mulder Critically Injured in Crash on FM 1630 at FM 1198 [Gainesville, TX]

Karen Mulder, Shirley Freeman Identified in Gainesville Fatal Crash

 
GAINESVILLE, TX (February 9, 2024) – Officials identified 56-year-old Shirley Jean Freeman and 52-year-old Karen Weiss Mulder who died in a crash on FM 1630 on February 2.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at FM 1198 around 3:56 PM. Based on a report, Freeman was driving a Chevy Tahoe east on FM 1630 during the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, she veered off the road, overcorrected, and drove into oncoming traffic. Her Chevy subsequently hit a Dodge Ram with a driver and Mulder in it.
 
As a result, Freeman and Mulder suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. The victims were both Forestburg residents.
 
The Ram’s driver, 54-year-old James Alan Mulder, sustained critical injuries. Emergency crews transported the victim to a Denton Hospital for treatment.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
