TOPPENISH, WA (June 6, 2023) – Officers confirmed that 68-year-old Ronald Sheets of Zillah remains in critical condition after a crash on Asotin Avenue on May 27.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Highway 22. Based on a report, Sheet was driving near the intersection prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, Jovan Tello Vaca was traveling at a high speed on the road. Due to unknown reasons, Vaca did not stop at a stop sign and rammed into Sheet’s side door. The impact ejected the victim from his car, making him land 5 to 6 feet away.
 
As a result, Sheets sustained serious injuries in the incident. Crews transported him to Harborview Medical Center, where he’s currently in critical condition.
 
According to court documents, Tello Vaca admitted to taking methamphetamine that same day and is now facing vehicular assault charges.
