Bicyclist Robert Westby Identified in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Hoquiam

 
HOQUIAM, WA (January 11, 2024) – The Grays Harbor County Coroner’s Office identified 55-year-old Robert D. Westby of Aberdeen who died in a hit-and-run accident on January 1.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near the entrance to Ocean City State Park. Based on a report, a passerby found Westby on the side of the highway across from the entrance to the park.
 
The coroner’s office pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities said he was riding a bicycle when a vehicle hit him. The driver left the scene but state police found pieces from a possible late-2000’s to early 2010’s silver Nissan Rogue.
 
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
