Rider Dead after Tacoma Motorcycle Crash on Pearl Street and 30th Street
TACOMA, WA (January 19, 2024) — A 21-year-old rider died in a motorcycle accident on North Pearl Street on Monday, January 15.
According to the Tacoma police, the incident occurred at about 1:33 p.m. at North Pearl Street and North 30th Street.
The witnesses said the rider on a BMW 1000 motorcycle moved at a high rate of speed and performed a wheelie. Then it struck an SUV traveling north on Pearl that tried to turn east onto North 30th Street. The impact of the crash caused the SUV to spin 180 degrees.
Responding officers and fire personnel administered CPR on the motorcyclist. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital where he died. Police only described the rider as an Arlington, Washington resident.
The occupant of the SUV did not sustain any injuries.
Authorities closed the intersection during the investigation.
