Rachel Martin Dies, Joshua Cardenas Ends Up Arrested After Rialto Crash on West Merrill Avenue

 
RIALTO, CA (February 28, 2025) — Rachel Martin died, resulting in the arrest of Joshua Cardenas in a crash on West Merrill Avenue on Friday night, February 21.

The fatal incident occurred in the 500 block of West Merrill Avenue, according to the Rialto Police Department which received a call of alert at about 8:17 p.m.

Authorities stated that a white 2021 Ford Mustang being driven by 28-year-old Cardenas, who had 33-year-old Martin aboard, had headed east on Merrill Avenue at around 85 miles per hour.

Cardenas, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, then lost control of the Ford.

The vehicle ended up crashing into several trees.

Martin died at the scene, despite life-saving efforts.

Meanwhile, Cardenas, who suffered minor injuries, fled the collision site.

Law enforcement managed to track down the suspect, leading up to the arrest of Cardenas.

Cardenas would then be booked into a San Bernardino County jail for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated with a $100,000 bail.

The case is still under investigation.
