Phillip Liberto Killed, Jessica Rehder Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Accident on Soda Bay Road [Lake County, CA]

Phillip Liberto Identified in Fatal Lake County Motorcycle Accident

 
LAKE COUNTY, CA (May 26, 2023) – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office identified 57-year-old Phillip Richard Liberto of Lakeport who died in a motorcycle accident on Soda Bay Road (Highway 281) on May 19.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just west of Fairway Drive around 8:50 PM. Based on a report, Liberto was driving a special construction motorcycle westbound on highway at an unknown speed prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, 60-year-old Michael C. Pitto of Lower Lake was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup towing a boat trailer eastbound. Due to unknown reasons, Pitto turned the pickup left across the westbound lane, directly in the path of Liberto’s motorcycle, causing a crash.
 
As a result, Liberto suffered severe injuries and died in the incident.
 
His passenger, 51-year-old Jessica R. Rehder of Kelseyville, sustained major injuries and was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
 
Pitto was wearing a seat-belt and was not hurt.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
