Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 3 in Kitsap County
KITSAP COUNTY, WA (May 13, 2024) – Officials confirmed that a 62-year-old man from Poulsbo died in a head-on crash on Highway 3 on May 2.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Bridgeway Lane, just south of the turn onto the Hood Canal Bridge around 7:30 PM. Based on a report, the victim was driving northbound on Highway 3 before the crash.
Due to unknown reasons, he attempted to pass another vehicle around a blind corner. When he went around the corner in the wrong lane, he struck a southbound car head-on.
As a result, the victim suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. The WSP said he was not wearing a seatbelt. Officials did not release his name, pending kin notification.
The 42-year-old man who was driving the second car and his 29-year-old passenger were hurt in the incident. Crews transported them to St. Michael Medical Center. The third man in the car, a 28-year-old from Bremerton, was not hurt in the crash. All three were wearing their seatbelts.
At this point, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
