Fatal Semi-Truck Accident on Highway 40 in Fraser
FRASER, CO (January 13, 2025) – The Fraser Winter Park Police Department confirmed that one person died in an accident on Highway 40 on December 26.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident happened near milepost 228. Based on a report, a 37-year-old man from Aurora was driving a 2021 Toyota Tundra eastbound on the highway before the crash.
At the same time, a 34-year-old man from Lochbuie was driving a 2024 Peterbilt semi-truck west on the road. Due to unknown reasons, the truck lost control and hit the passenger side of the Tundra. The impact pushed the Toyota to rotate counterclockwise into the westbound lane.
As a result, a 29-year-old Bethesda man in the car suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Authorities did not release his name, pending notification of next of kin.
Grand County EMS took the other four occupants of the Tundra to local medical facilities. They transported a female passenger to a Denver area hospital in critical condition.
Police said the semi-truck driver was not hurt in the incident.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
