One Killed, One Injured in Accident on Highway 85 at East 56th Avenue [Commerce City, CO]

Fatal Accident on Highway 85 in Commerce City

 
COMMERCE CITY, CO (May 28, 2024) – The Commerce City Police Department confirmed that one person died in an accident on Highway 85 on May 18.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened at East 56th Avenue around 8:30 AM. Based on a report, a vehicle ran a red light at a high rate of speed before the crash.
 
Subsequently, a collision occurred wherein a vehicle with the right-of-way crashed into the back of a second vehicle. The second vehicle stopped over the guardrail, ejecting two men who were inside.
 
As a result, both men suffered critical injuries in the incident. Emergency crews took them to the hospital, where one of them later died. Officials did not release the name of the deceased pending kin notification.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
