2 Pickup Trucks Involved in Fatal Accident on Highway 70 in Butte County

 
BUTTE COUNTY, CA (July 12, 2021) – At least one person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 70 at Table Mountain Boulevard Friday morning.
 
The accident happened around 9:39 a.m. on July 9. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet pickup truck rear-ended a Ford F-350 pickup hauling pallets of lumber. The impact caused major front-end damage on the Chevrolet.
 
Paramedics immediately responded and pronounced at least one person dead at the scene. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office will release the victim’s identity once family members are notified.
 
Officials also indicated that one person suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.
 
The CHP closed the highway while they investigated the accident. They advised motorists to avoid the area and expect delays.
 
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol was a factor.
