Suspected DUI Driver Involved in Fatal Bicycle Accident on Valencia Road in Tucson

 
TUCSON, AZ (July 1, 2024) – The Tucson Police Department confirmed that one person died in a bicycle accident in the 400 block of West Valencia Road on June 9.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened shortly after 10:15 PM. Based on a report, the man was driving a bicycle at the time of the crash
 
At the same, an orange 2016 Dodge Dart was heading east on Valencia Road in the median lane. Due to unknown reasons, the Dodge hit the bicyclist, who had moved in front of the vehicle.
 
As a result, the bicyclist suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Officials did not release his name, pending kin notification.
 
The driver of the Dodge immediately stopped after the collision and cooperated with the investigation.
 
An officer from the Impaired Driver Enforcement Unit responded and determined the man to be impaired by alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the collision.
 
Detectives are conducting further investigation into the collision to determine the appropriate charges for the driver. As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
