One Killed, Another Injured in Possible DUI Accident on 48th Street [Tempe, AZ]

Fatal DUI Crash near 48th Street and Southern Avenue

 
TEMPE, AZ (April 26, 2024) — One person died in a possible DUI accident near 48th Street on Saturday, April 13.
 
According to the Tempe police, the crash happened near 48th Street and Southern Avenue at about 12:30 a.m.
 
Tempe police believe a driver traveled at a high rate of speed and ran a red light while moving eastbound on Southern Avenue. It then crashed into another vehicle.
 
Officers then arrived at the area.  They then transported both drivers to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
 
The speeding driver reportedly died at the hospital due to severe injuries. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased victim.
 
The other driver sustained minor injuries.
 
Authorities also believe that the driver who died may have been under the influence.
