MARANA, AZ (June 25, 2024) — One person suffered fatal injuries in a pedestrian accident on the 10 Freeway on Saturday, June 8.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the fatal accident took place on the westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway near Tangerine Road at about 6:57 a.m.
 
AZDPS said a commercial vehicle struck the pedestrian.
 
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. There were no reports of whether impairment and speed were factors in the collision.
 
Crews on the scene said the incident caused traffic to back up to Avra Valley. Marana Police Department then advised motorists to avoid the area.
 
The investigation of the incident is still underway.
