Motorcyclist Fatally Struck in Stolen Car Crash on 45 Freeway and FM 1960
HOUSTON, TX (December 4, 2023) — A 19-year-old motorcyclist died in a stolen car accident on the 45 Freeway on Monday, November 27.
According to the Houston Police Department, the crash happened near the intersection with FM 1960. Police said officers saw two drivers racing northbound on 45 Freeway near Gulf Bank around 2:08 a.m.
An officer reportedly attempted to stop the driver. However, he refused and started driving away, reaching speeds of up to 100 miles an hour.
Police said that at around six minutes later, the driver exited FM 1960. Then he ran a red light. After that, he crashed into the 19-year-old victim riding a motorcycle.
The driver, described as a 16-year-old boy, reportedly drove for another half a mile before the vehicle finally came to a stop.
Officers said the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and ran. Yet, officers were able to take him into custody. They believe he will face multiple charges.
Additionally, investigators later found out the suspect car was a stolen vehicle on Sunday.
