Motorcycle Rider Killed in Hit-and-Run on 225 Freeway in Aurora

AURORA, CO (November 6, 2024) — A motorcyclist died in a hit-and-run on 225 Freeway on Monday, October 21.

According to the Aurora Police Department, the hit-and-run occurred on 225 Freeway and 6th Avenue at around 12:55 a.m.

Aurora police believe the person riding a Yamaha motorcycle traveled at a high rate of speed and possibly raced a Dodge truck. Then, the truck clipped the motorcycle as the two drivers changed lanes. It caused the motorcyclist to lose control and hit a guardrail.

After the incident, the truck left the scene. Aurora police said officers later discovered the truck in the area of East 38th Avenue and Sable Boulevard. However, they are still searching for the truck driver.

Authorities closed 255 Freeway at East 6th Avenue just after midnight Monday as they conducted their investigation. They reopened the freeway just before 4:30 a.m.

Officers urge with information about the incident to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
