Misty Shaw Dead, Blake Coomer and Three Others Hurt in Lubbock Multi-Vehicle Accident

 
LUBBOCK, TX (January 22, 2025) — A 59-year-old woman identified as Misty Shaw died in a multi-vehicle crash on Thursday, January 16.
 
According to the Lubbock Police Department, the incident occurred at 5:11 p.m. in the 6700 block of 19th Street near Milwaukee Avenue.
 
Preliminary investigations revealed that Shaw drove a passenger car eastbound. Then she lost control of her vehicle. After that, her car veered into the westbound lanes, where it first collided with a passenger car.
 
It then continued traveling east before another vehicle driven by 52-year-old Raquel Rodriguez struck it.
 
First responders pronounced Shaw dead at the scene.
 
Blake Coomer, a 31-year-old passenger in Shaw’s car, sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders brought him to the University Medical Center.
 
Paramedics also brought Rodriguez and two passengers in her vehicle to Covenant Medical Center with serious injuries.
 
Authorities continue to investigate the factors contributing to this tragic collision.
