Michael Rivers Killed and Cindy Ward Arrested in Tucson Motorcycle Crash
TUCSON, AZ (August 21, 2024) — A man identified as 53-year-old Michael Rivers died in a motorcycle accident in Tucson on Monday, August 5.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the crash occurred at the intersection of East Orange Grove Road and North Shadow Bluff Drive at about 7:00 p.m.
During the investigation, detectives determined that Rivers rode a motorcycle westbound on Orange Grove Road. After that, he legally entered the Orange Grove Road and Shadow Bluff Drive intersection. Then an SUV making a left-hand turn struck him.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Rivers with critical injuries. Then they transported him to the hospital where he died.
Authorities identified the driver of the SUV as 65-year-old Cindy Ward. She was not hurt in the crash.
The PCSD said officers arrested Ward for causing serious injury by moving violation, a class 1 misdemeanor. They also cited her for all applicable civil traffic violations.
The investigation of the accident is still underway.
