Michael Lose Killed in Car Accident on 25 Freeway near Highway 24
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (December 5, 2024) — Officials identified Michael J. Lose as the man killed in an accident on October 26.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, the two-car crash happened on the southbound 25 Freeway, just south of Highway 24.
Witnesses at the scene said a vehicle weaved in and out of traffic lanes at a high speed. Then the driver collided with the rear of a fuel truck.
The fuel truck driver did not sustain any injuries. However, the driver of the speeding vehicle died on the scene of the crash. Meanwhile, emergency responders brought the passenger in the vehicle to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the driver. They later identified him as 26-year-old Michael J. Lose.
Police do not suspect impairment. However, they believe speed is a possible factor in the incident.
The incident is the 44th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this 2024. As of writing, CSPD reports that there have been 50 traffic-related deaths in the city this year.
