ARVADA, CO (July 2, 2024) – The Arvada Police Department identified Melissa Brinkmann who died in a plane crash on Oberon Road on June 7.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened at Carr Street around 9:30 AM. Based on a report, Brinkmann was an occupant inside a 1969 Beechcraft V35A Bonanza plane that took off from Centennial Airport at 9:16 AM.

Officials said a witness saw the six-seater aircraft tilting side to side and that it appeared to be dumping fuel due to engine failure.

In an attempt to land, the plane’s left wing hit a tree before the plane crashed on the roadway and skidded to a stop in a front yard. A fire started after the crash.

As a result, Brinkmann and three other people aboard the plane suffered serious injuries. Emergency crews transported them to the hospital, where Brinkmann later died. The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed two people on board were adults and two were children.
